Variety is reporting that actress Rebecca Hall (“The Town”) is in talks to play the lead female role in Marvel’s upcoming “Iron Man 3.” As of last week, actress Jessica Chastain (“The Tree of Life”) was to talks for the role opposite Robert Downey Jr. (“The Avengers”), but surprisingly she turned down the part due to conflicting projects. Luckily, the studios sought out the lovely Rebecca Hall, who is best known for her role as Vicky in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”
“Iron Man 3” will be loosely based on Warren Ellis’ famed run on “Iron Man” entitled “Iron Man: Extremis.” Hall would play the brilliant scientist who is responsible for the creation of the Extremis nanotechnology, which is eventually sold to terrorists.
Written and directed by Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”), the cast includes Robert Downey Jr. (“Iron Man”), Don Cheadle (“Iron Man 2”), Gwyneth Paltrow (“The Avengers”), and sir Ben Kingsley (“Hugo”).
“Iron Man 3” is scheduled to be released May 3, 2013.
