In case you haven’t heard, it’s time to ‘Fight the Fairies.’ Only on ‘Supernatural’ you will find ’UFOs’ and ‘fairies’ in the same episode. There is nothing too weird for this show and most surprisingly, the weirder it gets the better the episode. Do you remember ‘Changing Channels’ and the ridiculous idea of Sam and Dean channel jumping through an entire episode? It was hilarious. Or ‘Supernatural’ doing their own reality ghost hunter show with their own theme song? There is something poetic about the theme songs of the ‘Supernatural’ sitcom in ‘Changing Channels’ and ’Ghostfacers’ when the actual show itself doesn’t even have one. Sure, there is ‘Carry on Wayward Son’ by Kansas at the end of every season finale but no official Supernatural opening theme song. But back to the fairies! Ever since Ben Edlund, specialist in weird and scary, teased at Comic Con about imagining a scene where Dean sees a light – the fairy Tinkerbell - and says “It’s so beautiful,” speculations have gone wild about the fairy episode. After watching the promo and webclip on CW, I would say it’s going to be hilarious. But don’t be fooled, this is Ben Edlund so expect a certain amount of gore as well, after all he was responsible for one of the grossest scenes in ‘Supernatural’ history, the two lovers of ‘My Bloody Valentine’ eating each other to death.
Official CW description of episode 6.09 ‘Clap your hands if you believe’
While Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are investigating a UFO sighting, Dean is abducted from a crop circle. However, when he awakens, he discovers he isn’t dealing with aliens, but fairies! Unfortunately, only Dean can see the fairy that keeps attacking him which makes tracing and stopping them difficult. The brothers become even more perplexed when Sam’s investigation leads them to a world full of elves, gnomes and a leprechaun. John Showalter directed the episode written by Ben Edlund.
